How do I obtain my freelancing status?

To get your freelancer status you need a UTR number, which you can obtain whether you’re a university student, employee, unemployed, or retired.

You can get it by registering for self-assessment on the HMRC website using this link: https://www.gov.uk/register-for-self-assessment.

It typically takes between 10 days to receive your UTR number.
